ROTTNEROS INVESTS IN NEW STEAM TURBINE IN VALLVIK

The new turbine, which is powered by process steam generated from the production of paper pulp, will increase the self-sufficiency rate for electricity at the Vallvik mill from about 70 per cent to almost 100 per cent.

“The investment is motivated by our desire to become as self-sufficient as possible following the sharp increases in Swedish electricity prices,” Lars Blecko, Rottneros’ President and CEO, comments.

The preparations for installing the new turbine will be made in September of this year in connection with the annual maintenance shutdowns at the Vallvik mill. Final installation and commissioning is scheduled for September 2007.
